If your loved one is in recovery don’t hesitate to seek out supportive services, use these resources to help you through any situation
- Allies In Recovery: “Families are an important and influential part of the immediate environment surrounding a person struggling with addiction. Yet, family members are not prepared to manage the complexities of addiction. They often rely on their own ideas or suggestions made by well-meaning but untrained family and friends. When a family is trained, they can engage a loved one in treatment 70% of the time and can keep a loved one in treatment 6 times longer.” -Dominique Simon-Levine, PhD, MPH, Founder & Director
- Community Reinforcement Approach and Family Training (CRAFT): 50% of people suffering from substance abuse and who admit they have a problem are resistant to getting help. CRAFT was designed with these individuals in mind.
- Self-Management and Recovery Training (SMART): Similar to CRAFT, it is a secular alternative to Al-Anon and Johnson Intervention
- Recovery Community Organization: a non-profit with a mission to advocate for the recovery community
- Al-Anon: Group for people that have been affected by a loved one’s alcohol use disorder. Based on 12-step principles, sharing stories, and building supportive networks
- Alateen: A subset of Al-Anon, designed for people that are adolescents and young people and have been affected by a loved one’s alcohol use disorder
- Nar-Anon: Similar to Al-Anon but is for people who have a loved one that has an addiction to any substance rather than exclusively alcohol use disorder.
